Drivers worried about getting an MOT because of the coronavirus crisis have been handed a reprieve.

Cars, vans and motorcycles due their MOT from March 30, 2020, will have their MOT extended by 6 months.

However, the government has warned that vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition.

The exemption “will enable vital services such as deliveries to continue, frontline workers to get to work, and people get essential food and medicine”.

Garages will remain open for essential repair work during the COVID-19 crisis, but drivers will face prosecution if they’re caught driving unsafe vehicles.
